Real-world examples of the scale in action:
- General:
- India: One of Hindustani music’s 10 ‘foundational scales’, known as Khamaj thaat: with corresponding ragas including Khamaj, Kambhoji, Khambavati, Jhinjhoti, Gaoti, and Bheem. Also popular in Carnatic music as Harikambhoji (melakarta scale #28), which gives shape to ragam including Kambhoji and Kedaragaula (which omits the ♮4 and ♮6 in ascent).
